SUMMARY:HPDE Drivers School at Grattan Raceway
DESCRIPTION:It’s time for our flagship high-performance driver’s education (HPDE) school at Grattan Raceway\, near Grand Rapids\, Michigan. This is your chance to explore and hone your driving abilities on one of the most entertaining courses in America. \n\n\n\nGrattan’s 2.0 miles of exciting and challenging corners (including a 160 degree hairpin and a downhill reverse camber turn) make it one of the best around. And a recent track resurfacing only further enhances the experience. This school is one of the premier driving events in the Midwest\, combining a challenging track\, excellent instruction\, and an Advanced Solo opportunity. \n\n\n\nAll drivers—young and not so young; novice\, intermediate\, and advanced—are welcome. \n\n\n\nThis year\, the event will be held the weekend of September 18-20\, 2020. Approved advanced students and instructors are invited to drive on Friday\, September 18. DESCRIPTION:Please join us at our first Cars & Coffee of the year\, on Saturday\, August 29\, from 8:30 to 10:00 am\, at BMW of Ann Arbor\, 501 Auto Mall Dr\, Ann Arbor\, MI 48103. BMW of Ann Arbor has graciously offered to host this C&C and also to give us a demonstration track tech inspection in advance of our drivers school at Grattan Raceway on September 18-20. And yes\, there really will be great coffee! \n\n\n\nWe want our drivers schools to be safe\, so we require that all students have a licensed mechanic inspect their cars before attending a drivers school. The required tech inspection form is available on our website\, HERE. If you’re interested in what goes into a tech inspection from the mechanic’s point of view\, this is your chance to see a BMW of Ann Arbor technician perform a tech inspection. It will give you a great idea of the things a mechanic looks at to help keep you safe at the track. \n\n\n\nAnd of course you can check out both the great inventory at BMW of Ann Arbor and the cars your fellow members bring—and just get out and enjoy a little time together with your Motor City Chapter friends. \n\n\n\nWe also want you to be safe at this get-together\, so we’re limiting participation to 40 attendees in order that that we can maintain social distancing. And\, yes\, a mask or other facial covering will be required (except while sipping your coffee!). DESCRIPTION:This event has been canceled for 2020. \n\n\n\nIt’s an all-German car show\, on the beautiful grounds of the Gilmore Car Museum. DeutscheMarques attracts a huge contingent of owners of German cars of all makes\, models\, and years. Plus it’s a great way to take in the Museum. You can shoot the breeze in an old-fashioned gas station. Children stand inches from a 1930 Rolls-Royce from a Disney® movie. Stroll the campus and explore the re-created dealership row. Eat lunch in an authentic 1941 Blue Moon Diner. Walk right up to an amazing collection of nearly 400 vintage automobiles\, motorcycles\, and memories. It’s North America’s largest auto museum. Not to be missed\, and DeutscheMarques is a great way to see it. \n\n\n\nIf you’d like to join us on the drive to the Museum\, we’ll be getting together at BMW of Ann Arbor (501 Auto Mall Dr\, Ann Arbor\, MI 48103) at 8:00 am for coffee and then taking the back roads to the Museum\, with the aim of arriving by 11. It’s a great drive down some beautiful roads and a wonderful way to spend your Saturday.
