It’s with regret that we announce we must postpone the trip to Traverse City. Both Hagerty and we have been working to offer our members a block of rooms in Traverse City. What we’ve found is that not only is no hotel or resort willing to give us a block, the city is essentially sold out that weekend—very few rooms are even available, and what is available is generally at some distance and overpriced. The hotels explain that weddings and similar events deferred because of Covid 19 have ganged up on them, so almost nothing is available. Both Hagerty and we want this to be a first-class experience for Motor City members, and we concluded we couldn’t do that with a ragged hotel situation.
So we looked at the calendar with Hagerty and decided to postpone the Traverse City drive to next year—Saturday-Sunday, May 21-22, 2022, to be exact. Hagerty is already working on hotel blocks, and they’re committed to providing the same great experience, dinner and a tour of the Hagerty Garage. The mid-May weather should be great both here and in Traverse City, and the drive will be the same back roads touring you expect from us.
We’re still planning a Fall Color Tour leaving from Grand Blanc BMW on October 9. Though it won’t be going to Traverse City, we’re mapping out a new, shorter route that will take us through some spectacular color. So please stay tuned.
